For the One is an initiative of united focus and mission to reach the world for Jesus, with an external focus on mental health. This bold generosity initiative was funded by the people of Grace from December 2023 through December 2025 and will have an impact on the city of Reno for years to come. Grace’s history is filled with God’s provision through His people to do great things in the city. Through For the One, we have and will continue to point to Jesus by giving to projects that help move the needle—especially as it relates to access to mental health care.

To that end, Grace has given millions of dollars for high-impact results in the area of behavioral health. Below are highlights of some of the ways we’ve been able to do that.

For the One Counseling opened in July 2024 and has served the community through thousands of sessions. With a dedicated staff of eight professionals—from student interns to fully credentialed therapists—these sessions have helped people find hope and healing. For the One Counseling is currently accepting new clients.

Our Partners

For the One has also supported partners across the region who serve those struggling with addiction and homelessness, suicidal ideation, and survivors of sex trafficking.

The primary objective of For the One was for all of us, as people of God, to engage in considering the priority of Christ in our lives through the lens of generosity. As we did that, we learned even more about what it means to follow Christ in every area of our lives. Some of the following stories speak to that, and others to the reality of mental struggle and how there is hope through that suffering.

Washoe Behavioral Health Center

Our most recent partner is the Washoe Behavioral Health Center, which will provide much-needed behavioral health treatment options for children and teens ages 5–18. Located on 9th Street in the former West Hills location, the center will include multiple beds for inpatient treatment, education and recreational facilities, and beds for crisis care, respite care, and intensive outpatient therapy. WBHC will also serve as a state-of-the-art training facility for future mental health professionals. Grace is on the ground floor of financing this project and looks forward to its opening in 2027. It will change the landscape of mental health care in our community.

University of Nevada,
Reno

For the One funded externships and scholarships for University of Nevada, Reno students who are studying in various mental health fields. Through the externships, six PhD-level students provide care at three different locations. Through FTO Mental Health Scholarships, graduate students receive financial assistance to help them complete their education more quickly. Together, these programs increase access to behavioral health care, aligning perfectly with the mission of For the One.
