Grace Church's story

Grace Church began in May of 1990. Two small churches in Reno decided, completely against the current trend, to merge into one functional, growing body of believers called Grace Community Church. About 180 people attended that first worship service at Lawlor Events Center. For the next five years, Grace Church set up and tore down each weekend at Lawlor, all while growing rapidly. Eventually, a plot of land was purchased on Robb Drive. Grace Church would finally have a permanent home.

On January 26, 1996, services were held in the new facility. There was just one problem. Already, the church had outgrown the building. Soon multiple services were offered each weekend. By 2000, the leaders of Grace Church were vigorously praying about how to deal with the facility demands of the rapidly growing church.

In 2003, Grace expanded the size of the parking lot and the Worship Center. More classrooms and office space was also added. In 2007 Grace launched the NOW Project to raise capital to make room for more to hear about God. (click here for NOW.) Soon after, the South Venue opened and offered an alternative for those wanting a different worship experience through video teaching. It also made room for those who couldn't find seating in the main worship center.

In 2008, the parking lot was further expanded to prepare for the building of new worship facility just north of the existing parking lot. The NOW Project continued.

In 2010, Grace helped plant Living Stones in Downtown Reno.

Today, we continue in faith as God remains faithful in using His church to make Jesus known. We are passionate about pursuing Him, learning about Him, and reaching outside our walls to love like Jesus throughout Northern Nevada and the world. (click Here for missions.)
